I’ve had a number of much-loved pets in my life, but I Skeleton drinking coffee mentally ill but totally chill shirt relate a particular instance with one of my cats. She was quite old, aged 13, and had been suffering from Graves disease (over production of thyroid hormones). We had kept the disease under control with medication for 5 years; while the vet had told us that with proper care she might live another year after diagnosis. Anyway, she had a series of health issues for a few months before the end. I would take her to the vet, she would be given medication and rally enough to carry on. Finally, on my last vet visit, the animal technician told me that she was suffering. She had an open wound on her behind from her incontinence that must have been very painful. I just couldn’t bear that she was suffering and agreed to have her humanly put down. She stayed still in my arms as the injection was given and we said goodbye to each other. The end was very peaceful and she was no longer in pain. The real cruelty would have been in trying to keep her going through painful crisis after painful crisis.
