My second story I didn’t realize until well into the flight. I was twelve years old and on Crown Royal Just drink it shirt flight from LA to Honolulu. My dad upgraded himself to first class and I was back in coach by myself. A very nice, an older gentleman was sitting next to me. I quietly freaked out that he had an urn under the seat, but he so mattered of fact about it. When my Dad came to check on me I begged him to let me switch seats so that I could experience first class all in the hopes of escaping. He did let me use his seat for a little bit, but only long enough to be served ice cream. This was 20 some years ago when you had a lot of amenities.
I didn’t have a black and white tv until the Crown Royal Just drink it shirt And my family didn’t graduate over to color until the mid-’70s. For the longest time, I listened to 45s or LPs on my record player. Then, we bought a console stereo unit. It was more furniture than anything else. There was reel to reel tape recorders, followed by the cumbersome 8-tracks and cassettes. What I have found helps is to rub her back and to basically otherwise let her sort of a hoot. If you pay any real attention beyond that she screams. So I always do the same exact thing. Rub her back in little circular motions. I fly fairly often with my autistic daughter. She does not like flying all that much, so I bring lots of distraction devices and indulge her in any little treat she likes.
